On 22nd SEP 2017 Rotary Club of Calcutta Avyanna participated in VRIKSHA DAAN UTSAV which was initiated by SUSTAINABLE GREEN INITIATIVE.
This particular tree planting was done in the Bali Island of the Sundarban District in West Bengal.
500 saplings of Mango Jackfruit Guava were distributed amongst the locals.
The population of Bali Island is approximate 35000 and this particular drive was to initiative livelihood and income to these farmers.
The drive was not just to encourage planting but also to look after the growth of the plants for the initial years.
Basic guidance towards the growth insecticide etc is all provided along with the saplings to the villagers so that within 4 to 6 years they can avail food as well as surplus to see in the nearby market.
This project had two sides one was to encourage green plantation and other to add to the economic growth of the people of Bali Island.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
