RC Avyanna was co-host at the Children and Community Festival ( 25th Dec-1st Jan) at Durga Charan Mitra Street, Kolkata 700006, which is a red light area. The lead host was RC Salt Lake Green City.
Our members actively participated in this week long event which included Health camp, eye camp, blankets and mosquito net distribution among aged widows and children up to 4 years. Blood donation camps, Thalassemia and Cervical Cancer Awareness programs were also held. This was inititiated by Dr. R. Homchoudhuri. Medicines were distributed among the thalassemic children.
This event covered an important area of focus of Rotary, viz. Maternal and Child Health.
