Rotary Club of Calcutta Avyanna* was Chartered on Friday, 16th June 2017, the realization of a long standing dream of a handful of women with a common vision, to give back to society and the needy, but through a recognized and trusted body with similar ideals. What better platform than Rotary!
Since then, we have grown from from strength to strength, and today we stand at 36 members. We do believe in peaceful coexistence with gentlemen, but this development process has further fortified our resolve to remain an all women Club, and enjoy this exclusive status in all of District 3291.
With the passion and drive with which our lady members approach any project, our focus has always been Women Empowerment and Child Development, and the majority of our activities and endeavours have been designed to meet this end, whether it was setting up and running a school called *Ankuran* inside the *Dumdum Correctional Home* for the children of the women inmates or it was organising *Dance therapy* sessions for the women inmates aiming at reformation to a certain extent or vocational training on Kantha stitch and Jute for their sustenance .
It has worked well so far for us, and we hope to reach out and touch as many lives together, as is possible, with a commitment that matches that of fellow Rotarians in India and abroad.
